The front of the Hall was re-modelled in the 18th century
to capitalise on the magnificent view over Windermere.
The Park was planted with a mixture of both native and other species,
one a magnificent 400 year old
chestnut tree still stands.
In 1909 Thomas Mawson added to this picturesque garden, creating a series of formal gardens where he mixed and added exotic species with formal tree planting.
